Summary:
J.R. Harris & Company provided structural engineering services for the Northwater Treatment Plant near Ralston Reservoir, Colorado, operated by Denver Water. The project included the construction of 10-million-gallon storage tanks with 16-inch-thick, 22-foot-high post-tensioned concrete walls and a 301-foot inner diameter. Our team conducted detailed evaluations of temporary lateral bracing requirements for critical construction stages, addressing wind conditions during both summer and winter construction periods. Key considerations included ensuring global stability, mitigating flexural stresses to prevent cracking, and developing a reliable, repeatable bracing system to support the tank walls throughout the staged construction process.
