Summary:
The Denver International Airport’s Automated Guideway Transportation System (AGTS) required an expanded maintenance facility to meet the demands of increased travel while ensuring uninterrupted operations. This multi-phase renovation and expansion project involved designing building foundations capable of supporting both an initial metal structure for current maintenance needs and a future buried concrete superstructure beneath an active taxiway. The project included developing a phased construction plan to maintain continuous operations during the demolition and construction, designing a foundation and structural floor system adaptable for future underground conversion, providing construction cost estimates, and delivering construction phase engineering services such as site observations, submittal reviews, and design modifications.
