Summary:

J.R. Harris & Company (JRH) has provided comprehensive structural engineering services for the Lionshead Parking Structure and Vail Transportation Center, two critical infrastructure facilities in Vail, Colorado. Both structures are exposed to heavy traffic, environmental extremes, and corrosive conditions from snowmelt and de-icing agents. Our work included recurring visual assessments, chloride penetration testing, detailed documentation of structural conditions, maintenance recommendations, repair designs, and construction engineering and oversight. At both facilities, we implemented repairs to expansion joints, topping slabs, and precast, prestressed structural members such as double tees, beams, and spandrels. At the Vail Transportation Center, we also conducted capacity analysis and recommendations for managing snow and ice effects to extend the lifespan of the structure.
