Summary:
J.R. Harris & Company (JRH) has provided structural engineering services for the Wells Fargo Center Garage in Denver, Colorado, conducting recurring condition assessments and structural evaluations. The thirteen-story, cast-in-place, post-tensioned concrete structure, originally constructed in 1982, serves as a multi-use facility with commercial spaces, a truck loading dock, and a below-grade parking level connected to a nearby bank building via a tunnel. The garage features a double helical ramp system and an architectural metal panel façade.
JRH’s work has included periodic structural condition surveys, chloride penetration testing, and core sampling to assess concrete deterioration and maintenance needs. The firm has conducted detailed evaluations of the parking deck, documented structural conditions, and provided recommendations for repairs and preventive maintenance. In addition, drainage testing and visual assessments have been performed every five to ten years to monitor deterioration and ensure continued safe operation. These evaluations have supported ongoing maintenance efforts, extending the service life of the structure while addressing critical repair needs.
