Summary:
J.R. Harris & Company (JRH) led a study to adapt a proprietary cold-formed steel framing system to meet progressive collapse resistance criteria outlined in the Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC 4-023-03) for military housing projects. We conducted advanced structural analysis and validation, including the application of the Linear Static procedure within the UFC’s Alternate Path method. The analysis leveraged the system’s existing high-seismic yielding connections, originally developed by JRH during a separate project that included creating a new seismic system in accordance with FEMA P-695. Utilizing our extensive expertise in structural analysis and seismic design, JRH evaluated and confirmed the system’s compliance through innovative design solutions and detailed analytical modeling.
